

He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was stationed in Japan on the USS Kawishiwi following the Korean War. He had worked at Westinghouse and retired from General Motors after 40 years of service. Following retirement, he worked for Oak Tree Golf Course. He enjoyed watching NASCAR with his favorite drivers being Dale Earnhardt and Danica Patrick. He loved to travel having traveled out West, to Florida, the Smokey Mountains and Las Vegas but his biggest priority was taking care of his family.
He is survived by a daughter, Debra (Richard Gray) Stevens of Ashland; two sons, Ronald (Candy) Rueckert of Mansfield and David (Cindy) Loomis of Mansfield; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Marion of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Merri (Gene) Miller of Mansfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carole Rueckert; a son, Walter Steven Rueckert; and a sister, Doris Probst.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Thomas Blair. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA or the James Cancer Center.
