
Wayne Cox, 57 of Mansfield died March 2, 2000 at MedCentral Mansfield following a brief illness. Mr. Cox was born September 9, 1942 in Ophir, Kentucky residing in the Mansfield area most of his life. He was employed with Skarl Pontiac-Buick in Shelby, Ohio and was a member of Springmill Church of God. Surviving are his wife, Connie Cox of Mansfield; four daughters and sons-in-law, Ginger Bradley of Mansfield; Jill and Allen Wheeler of Mansfield; Karen and Chris Fulk of Mansfield; and Tara and Ashley Smith of North Augusta, South Carolina; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Deborah and Allen Hayes of Marysville, Ohio; three step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, David and Diana Burger of Hubert, North Carolina; Dennis and Joy Burger of Crestline, Ohio; Dean Burger of Mansfield; three grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Tom Cooper of Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert P. and Myrtle Mae Cantrell Cox; one daughter, Dana Cox; one sister, Wanda Belcher; and three brothers, James, Ronel and Clyde Cox. Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home conducted by Pastor Brian A. Phillips. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandotte Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund.
