
Zelma J. Shears, 83, passed away Sunday evening, December 5, 2010 at her home after a brief illness. Born March 30, 1927 in Elliott County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Kegley and John W. Dickerson. Zelma was an area homemaker her entire life, a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Larry E. Garnet Shears, Jack Shears and Charles Shears, all of Mansfield; sisters, Juanita Ed Shipley of MD and June Renfro of FL, and Kay Dale Willis of MD; brothers, Burl Linda Dickerson of MD, Jimmy Sandy Dickerson of CO and John Dickerson of MD; grandchildren, Trina Evans, Larry Quincy Shears, Mark Shears, Michael Shears, Justin Ashley Shears and Joey Shears; four great-grandchildren, Heather Shears, Tess Evans and Morgan and Dalton Shears. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Charles Shears; son, Robert Shears; parents; brothers, Jack and Richard Dickerson; sister, Ida Pond; and grandson-in-law, Brian Evans.
Friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Mansfield. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Elder Les Long of Community of Christ Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richland County Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
