Glenn Ross Wilson was born in Compton, CA on July 3, 1944 to Grace Patterson Wilson and Ocie (Bud) Wilson, Sr. He passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2021 at his brother Ocie’s house in Tucson, AZ.
Glenn was the 5th of 10 children. The family moved to the Patterson Homestead in Linden, AZ when Glenn was around 4 years old. He attended elementary school in Linden and high school in Snowflake before enlisting in the Navy at 17. He spent his life “doing” - as the saying goes, “a rolling stone gathers no moss.” Glenn was always in motion either solving or serving. His dream was to be a rancher and he always had cows, horses, and other livestock.
Glenn married Carol Lou Chavez on May 11, 1964 in Gallup, NM. They are the parents of four beautiful children, Dawn Rene (Molina), Glenn Ross Jr., Lisa Marie, and Jared Lowell.
Glenn had a wandering Gypsy spirit and Carol was a willing soul. Early in their marriage, it seemed they moved every year from town to town and state to state until landing in Cortez, CO where Dawn graduated high school (1982) and Jared was born (1979). In 1984, the family moved to Nogales, AZ where Glenn went to work for his big brother, Ocie.
Glenn spent many years working in Nogales. He first worked with his brother Ocie Wilson, long time resident of Nogales and owner of O & S Trailer Repair and then opened his own business, Quick Fix (mobile semi truck and trailer repair). He moved his family to Eagar, AZ (affectionately called Round Valley) in 1994. Round Valley provided just the right landscape and community for Glenn and Carol and they finally put deep roots down. Round Valley was home for almost 30 years. Glenn spent this chapter of his life looking for his ship to come in and working to make his dreams of being a rancher a reality.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held many callings in his ward and stake. He loved his Savior Jesus Christ and had a true missionary spirit.
He loved hunting, fishing, camping, RV’ing, and sports, especially coaching youth. He was active in the Nogales and Rio Rico communities and you could often find him coaching AYSO soccer or a Little League baseball team for his son and/or grandson. He served as the San Cayetano Little League President.
Glenn will forever be remembered for his smile, his jovial spirit, and his endless desire to serve.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Lou Wilson (Chavez) of Eagar, AZ, daughter Dawn Molina (Celso) of Sahuarita, AZ, and son Jared (Adrienne) of Centerville, UT. He has 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren who live in Utah, Tennessee, and Arizona. He is survived by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ocie (Bud) Wilson Sr and Grace Patterson Wilson, sisters Betty and Gracie Wilson, and brother Harvey Wilson. He is also preceded in death by his two infant children Glenn Ross Jr and Lisa Marie Wilson.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2002 N. Greasewood Rd, Tucson, AZ 85745. A viewing will be at 9:30am and services will begin at 10:30am.
A Celebration of Life will also be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Eagar, AZ, 576 W. School Bus Rd.
