On Sunday, May 1, 2022, James Wesley Bond, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully. Jim was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa. His hometown was the place he loved deeply. If you talked to Jim at all, it was obvious that Fort Dodge was the best place on earth. Jim started his career in the mortuary business. He was a graduate in mortuary science from University of Minnesota. He talked often about his early career, especially leading processions to the wrong cemetery and having to turn an entire procession around and back to the other side of town. After leaving the mortuary business Jim found his way into new home sales. He was quite successful in Denver, Southern California, and Nevada selling new homes and made numerous friends that have stayed close his entire life. He became a broker and managed sales staffs with great success. He was a fair and honest co-worker, mentor, and manager. He was known for his fair dealings with clients and customers, and his fun and creativity with his sales teams. He was very proud of his career and the many careers he assisted in launching. Many of his fondest memories were related to his career in real estate. After retiring Jim grew his antique collection and thoroughly enjoyed searching for new treasures anywhere he went. He was generous with all, and would often give friends gifts of special and meaningful antiques from his collection. He had a large group of “antiquing friends” as well. Antiques were Jim’s passion. He also had an incredible love for animals of all shapes and sizes. He adopted many dogs who were treated like royalty, and refused to kill even the smallest bugs. For those that knew Jim, you knew you had a lifelong friend that had a big heart and that was very generous with his love. He always was planning his next meal and was known for his quirky sense of humor. He was an easy man to know and love. He will be missed by many. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family asks that you would make a donation in his name to your local Humane Society or Salvation Army, two charities near and dear to Jim’s heart.
