Alice Joy Hill

Alice Joy (Holstine) Hill passed from this life 9 April 2023. She was born 4 April 1932 in Bartlett, Texas to Charlie and Charity (Shelton) Holstine. The family moved to Cameron, and she attended school there until they moved to Austin when she was in High School. She attended Austin High.

In 1951 she met a young airman who was stationed at Bergstrom AFB in Austin while she and some friends were roller skating. After a brief courtship she married Joe Hill on 24 Nov 1951. During their military time they moved to various duty stations in Texas as well as Oklahoma and California. Joe was overseas several times during their marriage. He retired in 1967 and they returned to Austin and settled down. She worked at Marie Antoinette’s downtown for several years before going to work at the state comptroller’s office. She retired from there.

Alice and Joe had five children: Charles, Mike, Dawn, Craig, and Joe. She had 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe and her sons, Craig, and Joe and grandson Christopher.

She will be available for visitation on Thursday and Friday at Clements-Wilcox in Marble Falls. There will be a graveside service at Capitol Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville on Saturday at 2pm. Rocky Moncus of the 1st Street Church of Christ in Lampasas will officiate.
