Allan graduated from Adams High School in Alice, Texas. He enjoyed reading, woodwork, fishing and traveling. Allan was a longtime member and active in many benevolent organizations including Masons, Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite Shriners, the Presbyterian Church and others.
Allan is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Norma Holmes, his brother Randy Holmes and his first wife Sally Holmes. He is survived by his second wife, Sharon Wolfe-Holmes, brother Robin Holmes, sister Holly Myers, daughter Jennifer Holmes-Gress, son Joshua Holmes, step-son Wayne Miller, step-son Mark Miller, step-son Jason Wilson, grand daughter Melanie Holmes and grand son Logan Holmes.
Allan served valiantly in the U.S. Marine Corps from September 02, 1965 – August 29, 1969. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star with combat “V” for heroism during combat, Air Medal – six awards, Vietnam Service Medal, and numerous others. Following his military service, he worked in the oil industry, traveling all over the world, subsequently retiring from British Petroleum after a long and very successful career.

A Celebration of Life for Allan will be held on April 27, 2026 at 10:00 am at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. A private family interment will be held on April 28, 2026 at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
