Beverly Ann Thomas was born in Beaumont, Texas on September 26, 1946. She had two children, Brent and Blythe. She taught kindergarten and preschool for 8 years in both public and private schools, before leaving teaching to raise her family. She graduated from North Texas State with a BA in Education in 1969 and later received her kindergarten certification from the University of Houston.
Beverly met Bob Thomas in Houston, where he was serving in the Coast Guard. They were married on June 5, 1971. After living for 3 years in Galveston, they moved to Dallas in 1974. They lived in the DFW Metroplex until June of 2011, when they moved to Marble Falls, while still maintaining ties to the Dallas area. After 42 years of marriage, they continued to be each other's best friend.
Beverly took her duties as a mother very seriously and was actively involved in Brent's and Blythe's lives. Beverly was an avid reader, particularly of the Bible and other Christian literature, most of it coming from the Logos Bookstore in Dallas, where she was a frequent customer. She was very thoughtful of extended family, friends, and church personnel, with gifts that often had a Christian theme.
Even though she was an only child, she maintained a close relationship with her "surrogate sisters", her female cousins and their families. She will long be remembered by family, friends, and casual acquaintances alike, as a loving, caring and generous person, who had the ability to touch peoples' lives with her thoughtfulness, even though she was her own worst critic. She was a refined, humble lady, who was dedicated to God, her family, and friends.
Beverly was a longtime member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas and later White's Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake, before becoming a member of The Church at Horseshoe Bay last year.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Grace Nichols.
Graveside service will be Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:00 am at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park. Memorial service will be Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:30 am at The Church at Horseshoe Bay with Rev. Johnny White and Rev. Pete Christy officiating.
