

Billy Law Cardwell passed away March 1, 2016 in Marble Falls, Texas. He was born in Palo Pinto County on July 28, 1931, the son of Mary and Phillip Cardwell. Billy graduated from Brock High School near Weatherford, Texas. He continued his education at Texas Wesleyan University, receiving his BS in science in 1952. He married Dorothy Frysinger in September 1952 and immediately started teaching at Goldthwaite High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1953 and served in Germany until 1955.
Upon returning home, he completed his Master of Science at North Texas State University while teaching at Kingsville High School and Tuloso Midway High School in South Texas. In 1958, Billy started his Doctorate program at the University of Colorado while teaching at the University of Denver.
In 1964, Billy accepted a Professorship at Laredo Jr College where he taught for 17 years. Later, he went on to teach as a visiting professor at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas and Pierce College in Washington. Billy taught Biology, Anatomy-Physiology, Ecology, Chemistry and Genetics. In total, he taught 36 years; loving his work and his students.
Billy was an avid sportsman, he loved hunting and fishing. He played Racquetball and Handball for many years, achieving Masters level recognition. He enjoyed all these sports with his sons and friends; Billy especially loved playing dominos and cards at Marble Falls Senior Center. At the Center, Billy held the position of President for several years and is the current Vice-President.
Billy and his wife Dorothy retired to Marble Falls, Texas in 2001. They are members of The Church of Horseshoe Bay. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, 2 sons, Brian Cardwell of Austin, Texas and Billy Cardwell of Lakewood, Washington, 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons. He is preceded in death by his daughter Brandie Leigh, his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home, Funeral Service Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10 am at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel and a graveside service will be held in Weatherford, Texas on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.
