
Charles William Ritter, 93, passed away May 16, 2012. He was born March 11, 1919 in Dayton, TX. Mr. Ritter, a longtime resident of Hardin, TX, lived in Marble Falls, TX for many years until moving to Linden, TN in 2007. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Westwood Health Care Center in Decaturville, TN.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Ritter earned the rank of Master Sergeant in the United States Army and served in combat in the Pacific Theatre where he earned a Bronze Star Medal. A carpenter, mechanic, and then electrician and welder by trade until his retirement, he was active in the Masonic Lodge in Liberty, TX before moving to the Texas Hill Country, where he attended two lodges. He had over 50 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Ritter was an avid gun enthusiast, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a gifted metal lathe hobbyist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Stephens Ritter, daughter Carolyn Sue Ritter Trahan and grandson Jason Cole Robertson.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Ritter Hogan & her husband Clifford of Kirbyville, TX; two sons: Charles Richard “Rick” Ritter & his wife Paula of Bullard, TX and William Duane Ritter & his wife Diane of Linden, TN; four grandchildren: Robin Dodson of Kirbyville, Audrey Hogan of Dallas, Marine Staff Sgt. Lance Ritter of 29 Palms, CA , Marine LCpl Quentin Ritter of Bullard and Jesse Lee Smith of York, PA and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Monday, May 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Marble Falls City Cemetery with Bro. Matt Homeyer officiating.
