Jessie was born on January 26, 1927 in Clyde, TX to Joe Bailey and Effie Weathers McIntosh, the third of four children born into this family. Callahan County was the home of both sides of the family and she grew up with many aunts, uncles, and cousins which meant so much to her all of her life. Many of her fondest memories were the big gatherings with the McIntosh and Weathers families and the characters in each group.
She was preceded in death by her husband B.C. Garrison, parents Joe and Effie McIntosh, and brothers L.W. and Jack Hooker McIntosh. She is survived by sister Annye Joe Sanders of Odessa, sons Gary and Melissa Clifton of Fort Worth/ Guy and Trisha Clifton of Marble Falls and Bob and Rhonda Clifton from Marble Falls. Grandchildren Brandi Molinar and Carley Hernandez of Odessa, Chloe Clifton of Ft. Worth, and Dimitri Clifton of Marble Falls. Great grandchildren Madison Lou and Ellie Molinar and Maddox and Milo Hernandez all of Odessa. Also step-daughter Linda Heath and husband Bob of Grand Junction, CO and their family. Also numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins who she treated like her own kids.
After graduation from Novice, TX high school, Jessie attended Tarleton and Sul Ross Colleges. She married Floyd Clifton on July 10, 1948 and from that marriage the three sons were born. Floyd was an up- and- coming banker and they lived in Rotan, Truth or Consequences, NM, and Hamlin, TX. This marriage ended in 1964 and she moved with the twins to Odessa to be close to her parents and siblings. A stroke of luck came along and she married B.C. Garrison on January 1, 1965 in Monahans, TX. They were a good match and were married 38 great years until his death in 2003. B.C. was a good provider and together they made a wonderful home for all to enjoy. The Christmas’s with the beautiful tree and way too many gifts is just a fraction of the memories that she created for her loved ones and friends.
Of the many wonderful qualities that she had, the love for her family was paramount. She literally put them first and foremost. She overdid for them to a fault but until her final day, her mind was focused on “how everybody was doing.”
She was the best at striking up a conversation with folks and soon after that, they were her new friends, young, old, any race, religion it made no difference.
Jessie Garrison was here a long time. Her passing has left a big hole in several lives. But we can all say she was the best in every sense. Rest in Peace with no pain.
