She was born to Gordon and Madge Anderson in Houston, TX, on December 11, 1934. During her younger years she enjoyed time with friends in the Drum and Bugle Corps in the Reagan Redcoats Drill Team. Later she took a job at Sears where she met Allen Cryer, who would become the love of her life. They were married for 71 years, and together raised a family of five children: Dollye, Allen, Susan, Scott, and Dan.
Margie loved spending time with her family whether they were fishing at the coast in Rockport or hunting on the family lease in Sonora or at the cabin in Trinity. She loved playing cards, dominoes, and Pegs and Jokers. While raising her family, she enjoyed social activities centered around the church where she taught Sunday School. Margie was known for her prowess in the kitchen with a few specialties: gumbo, venison back strap, lemon icebox pie, and homemade ice cream. She also had a playful streak that revealed itself when she attempted to pass mashed potatoes off as ice cream. Margie spent many hours at her sewing machine as she was also a talented seamstress. She later devoted spare time to reading and watching her beloved Astros.
Margie was a matriarch who molded a strong, loving family. With five children, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren she somehow managed to make each one of them feel as though he/she was the favorite.
A private, graveside funeral service is scheduled at Rosewood Memorial Cemetery, Humble, TX.
