

Michael (Mike) West was called home to heaven July, 5, 2024. He was born to Dr. Ed L. and Bobbie (Self) West on August 24, 1950 in San Antonio, TX. He was raised in a Christian home; he and his family went to Harlandale and then San Pedro Church of Christ every Sunday. Mike went to Bellaire Elementary and Terrell Wells Jr. High School. He attended Winston Churchill High School where he played baseball and basketball. Mike had a beautiful singing voice. He was 1st chair trombone in the high school band. After graduating from W.C.H.S. in 1969, he went to the University of Texas where he played baseball as a left-handed pitcher. After leaving UT, he pitched batting practice for the Houston Astros.
During his lifetime, Mike owned and ran two restaurants. Then, he went into the cell phone business which took him to Denver, CO. Eventually he moved to Tulsa, OK where he worked as a sales manager. Life drastically changed sadly after Mike suffered a stroke in 2013 leaving him paralyzed on the left side. A few years later he had one of his legs amputated.
Michael was a likeable guy. He could engage in a conversation with anyone because of his winning personality and a sense of humor. Mike spent his free time watching all sports, especially UT games on TV, watching movies, and playing card games.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Victoria (Johnson), and precious son, Michael (Mikey) Jr.
Mike is survived by his sons Marcus and Jacob, granddaughters Brecken and Ella, brothers Pat (Karen) West, David (Judy) Marlin, sister Gail (Rudy) Davalos, numerous nephews and nieces, and many friends and former teammates.
Memorial Service will be held at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, Remembrance Garden on August 3, 2024 at 9:30 a. m.
