

Robert (Bob) Alfred Whitman, 91, passed away on January 18, 2017 at Granite Mesa Care Center in Marble Falls, Texas. He was born on September 15, 1925 in Burnet County to Robert and Bertha (Sims) Whitman.
Bob grew up in Marble Falls. Following graduation from Marble Falls High School he went on to:
• Join the Marine Corps in December of 1943. He served in World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (with two Bronze Stars), China Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in January of 1947, achieving the rank of Corporal.
• Employed by Texas Granite, Capital Marble and Granite and as a partner in Bluebonnet Memorial as a stone mason. He retired in 1990.
Bob married June in August 1950 in Burnet, Texas. They were happily married for 66 years. Bob was a deacon of First Baptist Church, Marble Falls. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with family. He also served as a Marble Falls volunteer fireman for several years and volunteered at the food kitchen and for many construction projects.
Bob served God, family, community and country throughout his long and productive life.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister Margie King.
Bob is survived by his wife June of Marble Falls; his daughter Barbara and her husband Jerry Robinson, son Mark and his wife Candy Whitman and son Terry and his wife Jackie Whitman all of Marble Falls; his grandchildren Les Robinson, Leah Dabaghian, Robert Robinson, Kristen Bell and Chelsey Cardillo, Jordan Whitman and Donnie Pelky; his great-grandchildren Grace and Mollie Robinson, Brooklyn, Savannah and Sydney Dabaghian, Caroline, Isabelle and Brody Robinson, Turner and Jackson Bell, Cash and Cooper Cardillo, and Skyler Griffiths; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church 901 La Ventana Drive, Marble Falls, on Saturday, January 21th at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at Clements/Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 US Highway 281, Marble Falls, on Friday, January 20th from 5 to 7 PM.
