Tommie Jean Hudson left this life on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the Arbor House in Marble Falls, Texas where she resided the last nine months of her life. She succumbed to high grade endometrial cancer. Prior to moving to Arbor House she lived in Sunrise Beach Village, Texas for over 25 years.
Tommie was born 79 years ago as the eldest of three children to Alice M. Hudson (Hall) and Thomas H. Hudson in Montgomery, Alabama. After completing her high school education in Madison, Tennessee in 1958, Tommie attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, Tennessee graduating in September 1961. She worked as a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital until joining the Air Force.
Tommie entered the United States Air Force Nurse Corps in 1966 as 1st Lieutenant. She was assigned to Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery Alabama; Tachikawa Air Force Base, Japan; Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas and Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand during her military career. She was medically retired with the rank of Captain in 1977.
Tommie loved gardening, carpentry, reading and people. A kind and generous spirit who was always willing to help others she volunteered at the Llano Library and was an active member of the Sunrise Beach community. Her ready smile and positive persona made her a joy to be around.
Tommie is survived by: brother, Dick Hudson, Yankton, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The service for Tommie will be held on Thursday November 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunrise Beach Federated Church, 105 E. Lakeshore Drive, Sunrise Beach Village, TX.
She will later be laid to rest at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, Burnet, Texas.
