On December 31st, 2023, at approximately six thirty pm, William Branson Townsend, Jr. passed away after suffering a severe stroke. Bill, as he was called by family and friends, was born on December 24th, 1949, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Bill graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1967 and went off to Eastern Oklahoma State College.
Bill began his career in 1968 working for The Western Union Telegraph Company. In 1971 he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, which later merged with AT&T, in Texas. He retired in 2006 and settled in the Marble Falls area of Texas.
Bill Townsend is preceded in death by his father, William Branson Townsend, Sr., his mother, Joyce French Townsend and his sisters Linda Lincoln and Donna Townsend. He is survived by wife, Donna Townsend, his son, Carl Branson Townsend, daughter, Tiffany Lynn Townsend, along with several grandkids and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Brad Townsend of Moore, Oklahoma and his sister Laine Smith of Comfort, Texas.
He enjoyed good music, a good story, good friends and a cold drink. He was loved and will be missed.
