Al Starshak, loving husband and father, died unexpectedly on December 14, 2020. One of six children, he graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago and completed his education with a PhD in chemistry from Illinois Institute of Technology. Al worked in research and development, quality control engineering and teaching. He was known for his devotion to faith, family and friends as well as his clear voice, bear hugs, quick laughter, smiling face and interesting conversation on a wide range of topics. When you spoke with Al, he was always wholly present. Survived by spouse Mary and children Ann Olson (Todd), Thomas Starshak (Summer) and William Starshak (Maura); grandchildren Elise and Finn Olson, Kathryn and Aine Starshak and Oliver Starshak; siblings Ruth Martin, Sue Klemmer and Joe Starshak (Mary Clare) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
