With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George D. Brown Jr., who left us after a remarkable journey of 88 years. Born on February 22, 1937 to the late George and Kathleen Brown of Irvington NJ, George touched the lives of many with his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering spirit.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Patricia Desmond Brown, who was the love of his life and his steadfast companion. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children, George D. Brown III (Kelly) and Deborah Brown Griffin. George's legacy extends to his cherished brother, William Brown of Scranton, PA, and his five adoring grandchildren: David, Kelly, Connor, Caitlyn and George.
George graduated from Irvington High School and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Seton Hall University. George's pride in serving in the United States Navy was evident throughout his life, as was his dedication to his career, culminating in his retirement as an executive for the Prudential Insurance Company of America after over 35 years of committed service. George and Pat were residents for 35 years of Colonia, New Jersey, where they raised their family and actively contributed to their community. Their retirement years were spent at Four Seasons at Wall in Manasquan, New Jersey, where George relished coastal living and the company of new friends.
George discovered his paradise at Smokehouse Harbour in Marco Island, FL, where he served as President of the Board for many years, forming lasting friendships and embracing the beauty of every sunset and the peace and joy of every bay breeze. He treasured every moment spent with family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, strength, wisdom, leadership, and a spirited fandom of the New York Giants and Yankees. George's stories, laughter, and love will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will be cherished, and his impact will remain a guiding light for his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life in Marco Island FL in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Avow Hospice in Naples, FL or Wounded Warrior Project.
