Larry “Pop” Rosenblum went to be with the love of his life Marilyn (Nan) who he lost last October. We know he couldn’t bear to be without her and we are positive they are both happy to be together again. Married for over 60 years they were a dynamic duo and did everything all the way, as there was no alternative for them. Those of you reading this that knew them, know what we mean. Pop leaves behind his children Gary (Betsy), Cheryl Temple (Rick), Gerry (Barbara), his grandchildren, whom he adored more than anything, Josh (Karen), Jared (Jessie), Elizabeth (Zach), Annie, Lily, Amaris and great-grandchildren Rosalyne and Zachy.
Just like Nan, Pop was a doer. He was a “Union Man” for over 60 years who proudly served on the executive board of I.B.E.W. Local 164 with his best friend Jake. Pop also served in Maywood N.J. on the Board of Education, Mayor and Council and was the Fire Commissioner. He was a life member of the Kiwanis Club and believed in their service to the community. Despite getting seasick, Pop was a Navy veteran where he proudly served on the aircraft carrier USS Midway CV-41 during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. Pop served as the Commodore of the Brant Beach Yacht Club where memories are made. Throw in serving on the board at the Riverside Club and volunteering 1,000's of hours at the Urgent Care Center on Marco Island, helping out at Temple Shalom in Maywood and you get a glimpse of the person he was. He was not a big talker, but rather let his actions speak for himself. No person is perfect, but he came as close as you can get.
But more than anything, Pop was a family man.
A huge thank you goes to all of Pops doctors, especially Dr. Matthew Baker, the team from Gulfshore Caregivers, and the caring people from Avow Hospice. Pops will to live, along with the combined effort of all of these wonderful people allowed us to share some precious extra time with Pop.
Eating dinner out at small local restaurants was one of Pops favorite things to do, so in lieu of flowers or donations, we would encourage you to round up your family and friends and have a night out on the town with them. Cherish the moments you have with those around you because you still can. A private service for Nan and Pop will be held at a later date.
