Robert Edward Kennedy

The world lost one of the good guys on June 14, 2021 when Bob Kennedy peacefully entered eternal life. Bob was a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother and friend. This is where his generosity, caring and humor was best exemplified.

Bob was born to Mary Jane and Ed Kennedy on July 22, 1945 in Detroit Michigan. Shortly after high school Bob joined the Navy. From there he found his niche guiding Midwest Marine Supply into a strong and well-respected business in St Clair Shores, Michigan, even though he referred to himself as “a simple parts guy.” He worked there for more than 40 years until retirement in 2006 when he moved to Marco Island, FL with Joanna, his partner. There he enjoyed his other passions of boating, traveling, running and being that all around good guy who found meaning in making people feel good about themselves. He was blessed to be loved and supported by Joanna, his daughter Kim and his granddaughter, Morgan and Riley. He was followed to Marco by his best friends of 70 years. Humor, hospitality and his Irish ability to spin a good tale were his trademarks. His life was sprinkled with corny quips like, “Do you think the rain will rot the rhubarb?” That had to be followed by his family responding, “No, but it will give the cabbage a big head.”

There was nothing he wasn’t willing to learn about and fix. Those included boats, cars and any kind of household challenges especially many of the things around Kim’s house (with the help of JoJo).

He is preceded in death by his son Robert Burke Kennedy. He is survived by his partner Joanna Sliwka, his daughter Kimberly Kennedy, granddaughters, Morgan and Riley and sisters, Sr. Barbara, Susan (Tory) and his brothers, Mike (Nancy) and David Kennedy.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00am at San Marco Catholic Church, Marco Island, FL. Memorials can be made in honor of Bob to:
