Ron was born on August 31, 1946, in Boston, MA, to the late Gertrude Galano and Archie Kelley of Westwood, MA. Upon graduating Westwood High School, he attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, graduating on June 15th, 1969. Upon graduating, he pursued a career in chemistry and began working at Dupont. Ron would change employers only a few times, working at Bostik for most of his career until retirement. Accomplished and driven, he was awarded at least one patent (# 5,942,330) on August 24, 1999.
Retiring from Bostik, Inc., he moved to Marco Island, FL to reside permanently with his wife, Linda Kelley. Thriving there, he joined the Marco Men’s Club, where he made many a good friend while golfing. Other passions included gardening and running. Oftentimes, he could be found combing Residents’ Beach for seashells. Possessing an artistic side, he created figurines from the shells he found; he was also skilled at working with stained-glass. He loved listening to music-his favorite genres included country and ‘50’s & ‘60’s rock-and-roll. In his earlier years, Ron relished a fragrant pipe of tobacco, enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, cycling, and running. He always appreciated scrumptious food and enjoyed red wine.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Linda A. Kelley of Marco Island, FL; his son, David Kelley of Pike, NH; his daughter, Katherine Kelley and her husband, Marty Townsend of North Waterboro, ME; his granddaughter, Lillianna Townsend of North Waterboro, ME; his sister, Elaine Kelley of Mansfield, MA; his brother, Robert Kelley and his wife, Marilyn Kelley, of Walpole, MA; nephew Robert Kelley, Jr. and his wife, Diane Kelley and their children; nephew Brian Kelley and his wife, Kimberly Kelley and their children.
