Charles "Sam" Smith

Charles Samuel Smith, 79, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on January 24, 2016. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a strong supporter of our serviceman and his church family. Sam was a retired accountant for Cabot Corporation. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Harold Smith; and his first wife, Joy Snell Smith. He is survived by; wife, Shirley Smith, of Marietta, GA; daughter, Stacey (Rob) Trollinger, of Ashville, NC; son, Thad (Jenny) Smith; granddaughters , Ava and Riley Smith, of McKinney, TX; stepson, Patrick (Sarah) Bowser, their children, Connor and Eliza, of Canton, GA; stepson, Daryl (Christina) Bowser, and their children, Eve, Emma, and Ellie, of Woodstock, GA. Sam was a humble man who loved his community services, which were many. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in his name to Opportunity Knocks for Youth, Inc., P.O. Box 681822, Marietta, GA 30068, www.ok4youth.org, which was very dear to his heart. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, 2016, from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at H.M. Patterson & Son, Canton Hill Chapel. Funeral Services will be conducted at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, Marietta, GA, on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1:00PM. Graveside services will be held in Independence, KS on Thursday, February 4, 2016.
