Mr. David Jerner Martin, age 86, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on November 18, 2020. Born in 1934, he is the son of Henning & Ruth Martin. After earning his PhD from Georgia State University, be became a professor in the Education Department at Kennesaw State University. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to all seven continents, music, and being of service to his fellow men.
David is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Mary Lou. He is survived by David (Ruth) Martin, Jr., Steven S. (Juli) Martin; daughter, Elizabeth G. Martin; grandchildren, Katelyn A. Martin, Joshua S. Martin, and Shannon M. Rogers; and great-grandchildren, Tristen Rogers, Dakota Rogers, and Elliana Hatch.
To celebrate David’s life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 1 o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Due to COVID-19 protocols, all guests will be required to wear a face mask and social distancing will be observed.
Mr. Martin will be entombed in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery, in Marietta.
