Born in 1981 to Donald and Diana Schmidt, David grew up with a passion for sports and a love of learning. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Management and went on to build a successful career with Energy Consulting Group.
An avid runner in his youth and throughout college, David’s competitive nature and enthusiasm for all sports stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed coaching youth soccer, basketball, and flag football, inspiring countless young athletes with his dedication, sportsmanship, and encouragement. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching football with his sons, Walter and Patrick, sharing his enthusiasm and passing on his love of the game.
David’s love for his family was central to his life. He took great pride in creating a warm and welcoming home for them, complete with a beautifully landscaped yard he maintained with care. He loved travel, especially if it involved the beach or snowboarding. His adventurous spirit, competitive edge, and love of good company were constants in his life.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Marge Schmidt; Joseph and Mary Mueller, and his uncle, Mel Mueller. He is survived by his loving parents, Donald and Diana Schmidt; his former wife, Jennifer; his cherished sons, Walter and Patrick; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins who will forever treasure his memory.
To honor David’s life, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Furkids Animal Rescue, or Schnauzer Love Rescue, causes that were dear to David’s heart.
David will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives of those he loved and inspired.
