

Delores was born in Macon, Georgia on November 3, 1928, to the late Howard and Gracie Anderson Tucker, and was the fourth of ten children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hansel Hester of Marietta, Georgia; grandson, Richard Briscoe of Florida; and her siblings, Margaret Tucker Hicks (Roman) of Georgia, Robert Tucker (Louise) of Georgia, Jeanette Tucker Otto (Raymond) of New York, James Tucker of Georgia, Jack Tucker (Edith) of Florida, Joyce Tucker Omo (Jim) of California, Jo Ann Tucker Sullivan of Georgia, Larry Tucker of Florida, and Gary Tucker of Georgia.
Delores dedicated 30 years of her life to civil service. She was active throughout her life in the Ladies Auxiliary VFW in Marietta, the Eastern Star in Macon, her faithful attendance at Woodstock Baptist Church, her hobbies, and close involvement with her family.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother of two, and a cherished “Memaw” to six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. In her own words, she deeply valued her family, friends, church, home state of Georgia, country, and held great gratitude and respect for the military.
Delores enjoyed baking, crafting, crocheting, gardening, poetry, and listening to Elvis Presley. Each Saturday, she and her husband would dance to Elvis while cleaning their home — a tradition filled with love and joy. She instilled strong values of responsibility and love for family.
She is survived by her children, Robert Lamar Hester (Linda) of Woodstock and Deborah Renee Jarvis (Craig) of Monroe; grandchildren, Matt Jarvis (Dawn) of Winder, Gabriel Hester (Dana) of Kennesaw, Emily Hester Truong of Chattahoochee Hills, Brian Jarvis (Ellen) of Statham, Christine Briscoe of Florida, and Robyn Briscoe Byrom (Travis) of Arizona; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Ethan Jarvis, Cole, Micah, and Sarah Jarvis, Ansley and Gabriel Hester, Holland, Ella, Ben, and Emerson Truong, Grace Briscoe, Austin, Lindsey, Lance, Grant, Leanna, and Jackson Byrom.
Additional survivors include her brother-in-law, Frank Sullivan of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Linda Tucker of Florida, Linda Tucker of Georgia, and Helen Tucker of Georgia along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Mary Kibet and Folashade Griffin, for their compassion and devoted care.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 3:00 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, Georgia 30068. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation between 1:30pm and 3:00pm. The family invites all to a catered reception held at the funeral home immediately following the service.
A private burial will be held later at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
