

Denny Aurthur Edwards was born August 20, 1936 in Rome, Georgia, to the union of the late Emmett Richard Edwards and the late Annie Lue Hardin Edwards. To that union two children were born; Denny Aurthur Edwards and Annette Edwards Weigle.
Denny attended Central Primary School, and in the fourth grade he began playing the clarinet and became a talented musician. At the age of twelve he performed in the Rome Symphony Orchestra. In 1950 Emmett and Annie Lue moved their family to Marietta, Georgia. Shortly after moving to Marietta, Denny and his family joined St. Stephens United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend Lamar Cherry. He attended Marietta High School and received the Marietta Aerron Award and a scholarship in his senior year for playing the saxophone. Denny graduated from Marietta High School in 1954. After graduation he joined the Air National Guard at Dobbins Air Force Base, where he served honorably.
In 1956 he married the late Josephine Parker and to this union three children were born; Denny R. Edwards, Barry L. Edwards and Larry D. Edwards. Denny also was blessed with a daughter, Deborah A. Martin, from this union. Denny was a self employed Land Surveyor for over twenty years, and from 1987 until his death was employed by Allied Barton Protective Services as a security officer and a private investigator. He attended Dekalb Technical Institute in 1993 and received his Private Investigator license. Denny was known as “Major Edwards, and in more than twenty-five years received several service of excellence awards.
In 1998 Denny married Eileen Patterson, and this created an instant blended family. He gained six daughters; Danea Patterson, Alzeter Patterson, Claudette Patterson, Jammie Green, LaWanda Patterson and Evelyn (Butter) Sterling.
He departed this life on January 17, 2014, at Wellstar Hospital in Cobb County, for a better life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, loving brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a dear friend to many. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Precious memories of this great soul will be cherished by his loving wife Eileen Edwards, three sons: Denny R. Edwards of Georgia; Barry L. Edwards (Karen) and Larry D. Edwards of Hagerstown, Maryland; six daughters: Deborah A. Martin of North Carolina; Danea Patterson, Alzeter Patterson, Claudette Patterson, Jammie Green (Lorenzo Mike), LaWanda Patterson of Atlanta, Georgia; and Evelyn Sterling of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Also, he was instrumental in raising two of his grandchildren; Alfonte’ and Shamari Patterson, both of Atlanta, Georgia. One devoted sister: Annette Weigle (Robert) of Forest Park, Georgia, two sister in-law; Althea Jones and Mary A. Stanley of Banton Rouge, Louisiana; one brother in-law, Wilbert Jones of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of loving relatives and friends will also cherish his memories.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 o'clock, Thursday, January 23rd, 201, in the Chapel of, Georgia Memorial Park Funeral home. Interment will follow, on the grounds of Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will recieve friends from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock, Wednesday evening, January 22nd, 2014, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home.
