Elna Irene Cook

Rogers to Jake and Aline Rogers in

Screven, GA, September 4,

1927. Raised on a farm with her

sister Edith, she left home at the age

of 16 to study accounting at the

Women’s State College in

Milledgeville. After earning her

family’s first university degree, she

relocated to Atlanta. Her long and

varied career included positions with

Southeastern Films, Lockheed, and

The State of Georgia before finally

retiring from Baker Sales at 75.

Elna was married to Luther Collins

Cook from 1951 until his death in

1989. Family and faith were her

chief devotions and she delighted in

catching up with kin and telling

stories. A devout Christian, she was

a member of Mt. Bethel United

Methodist Church in Marietta.

Elna peacefully passed away,

surrounded by family and friends, on

Sunday, August 16, 2015 at

Kennestone Hospital. She is survived

by her son, Roger; daughter-in-law,

Lois; granddaughter, Rachel;

her grandson, Chris; and his husband,

Billy.

Funeral services will be held August

19, 2015 at H.M. Patterson Funeral

Home, located in Marietta, GA.

Visitation will begin at 10:30a.m.,

followed by a memorial service at

12:00p.m. She will be laid to rest at

College Park Cemetery in College

Park, GA. Elna will be sincerely

missed.
