

On the morning of August 10th, 2016, Kevin James Castellow passed away after a two year battle with cancer while in the care of Northside Hospital. His passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by his wife and two children. Kevin was 41 years old.
Kevin was born in Atlanta, GA on January 28th, 1975 to the late James “Topper” Castellow of Americus, GA and Elizabeth Jensen Hargrove of Port Orange, FL. Kevin grew up spending much of his time at the Cedar Park pool in Stone Mountain, GA where he enjoyed many games of sharks and minnows. During his late teenage years, he coached and lifeguarded at the Rockbridge pool in Stone Mountain. Kevin graduated from Stone Mountain High School in 1993, and went on to graduate from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Management. During his years at Tech, Kevin swam on the Men’s Swimming and Diving Team.
Upon graduation from Georgia Tech, Kevin worked as an information technology consultant at IQ Software and later as a sales engineer at S1 Corporation. In 2000, he became a Solution Engineer for Netegrity. Kevin spent three years at Northrop Grumman working as a security engineer and later worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In 2005, Kevin became an independent contractor. He provided consulting services for AT&T, Delta, and BNETAL through his company, WorkIntel, LLC. Kevin obtained a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification as well as an accepted patent for session termination in an IMS network. He also is a published contributor to The Information Security Handbook, Sixth Edition, Volume 3. Kevin authored Chapter 2 on Five Components to Identity Management Systems.
Kevin joined the Swim Atlanta Masters Cobb County team and participated in an open water swim at the 2014 Georgia Games Summer Championships winning his age group. Kevin loved Georgia Tech sports, especially Georgia Tech football, but Kevin’s main love was spending time with his wife of thirteen years, Jackie, and their two children, Katie and Gunnar.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, James “Topper” Castellow. He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Castellow; his two children, Katherine “Katie” Elizabeth Castellow and Gunnar James Castellow; his mother, Elizabeth Jensen Hargrove and her husband, James “Jim” Collis Hargrove; his brother, Robert Franklin Castellow, and his wife, Paige Ann Castellow, and their children, William “Will” Arthur Castellow and Grant David Castellow.
Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta on Monday, August 15th at 11am with visitation prior to the service at 10am. An additional visitation is being held at H.M. Patterson & Sons Funeral Home in Marietta on Sunday, August 14th from 4-6pm for those friends and family who cannot attend the Monday services.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kevin’s oncologist, Dr. Colleen Austin, for her diligence and steadfast manner in treating his cancer as well as all of the staff at Atlanta Cancer Care, the oncology nurses and staff at Northside Hospital, and the MD Anderson nurses and staff, who cared for Kevin over the course of two years as he fought this awful disease.
