

Mattie Bell Norman was born on December 2, 1941 in Fairfield, Alabama to the parents of Will and Hassie Norman. She was raised in Alabama and later moved to Chicago, Illinois and lastly, Atlanta, Georgia. Mattie attended and graduated from Fairfield Industrial High School. She continued her education by attending Lawson State Community College where she received her nursing degree.
Mattie accepted Christ at an early age when she was baptized at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Alabama, and she continued to maintain her faith throughout her life.
Mattie Norman was a member of World Changers Church in Norcross, Georgia where she served as an usher. Mattie continued to work in the community after retiring as a poll worker for voter’s registration in Gwinnett County in Duluth. She enjoyed the outdoor life, traveling and serving in the community.
Mattie loved watching many sports especially basketball and football. She also had a love for bowling which she played on a league in Chicago.
On January 13, 2024 Mattie Bell Norman entered eternal rest. Mattie surviving sibling is Rufus Norman (Uncle Dit). She was preceded in life by her other siblings, Edna Rance, Theodore Norman, Lavell Norman, and Will Norman Jr. Mattie leaves five children that will miss her dearly and continue her legacy, Gregory Taylor, Ray McNair, Betty Taylor-McNair, Denise Taylor and Eugene Winston McNair, Jr., and she was a grandmother who loved all eleven of her grandchildren, and a host of sisters-in- law, special nieces and nephews, great grandchildren and other family and friends.
