Ms. Melanie June Mayes, 51 of Acworth, GA passed away on August 20, 2012. She was born in Atlanta and grew up in Marietta. Melanie graduated from Wheeler High School in 1979. She had many hobbies, including crafting, making special jewelry for her family, gardening and taking care of her pond. Melanie also enjoyed many years working in the bakery at Kroger. She loved her family and her dog, Boo Boo. Melanie was an animal lover and enjoyed taking Boo Boo for walks. She is survived by her parents, Ernest and Ellen Mayes of Marietta, sister, Sue Hibbs (Tim) of Stockbridge, aunts, Margie Dorsey and Marlene Krueger (Don), uncle, Buddy Oliver (Peggy), niece, Aimee Williams (Waylon), nephew Nicholas Gray (B.J.) and several cousins, great nieces and great nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 2:00PM in the chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00PM.
