Michael “Mike” Warren Nolin Sr., age 77, of Marietta, GA passed away on April 19th, 2024. He was born in Eufaula, Alabama on December 9, 1946 to William and Louise (Gill) Nolin. In 1964, Mike graduated from Lawrence Central High School in Indiana. After high school, Mike attended Auburn University, but left school early to enlist in the Army. He proudly served in the United States Army for approximately eight years as an Infantry officer and helicopter pilot in the 101st Airborne Division, serving in Vietnam as a Flight Platoon Leader with Alpha Company, 101 Aviation Battalion. It was there in Vietnam that he was promoted to the rank of Captain. Mike was honorably discharged in 1973 and began a law enforcement career that spanned over 41 years. He served twenty-six years with the Cobb County Police Department before retiring. During his law enforcement career, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Mercer University.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outside and maintaining his yard. He also loved to spend time with his family, friends, and colleagues, often frequenting Mac’s Chophouse in Marietta. He was a long-time member of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Suelynn McKone Nolin, who passed in 2015.
He is survived by his son, Michael Nolin Jr. (Sarah); step-daughters, Katie Conroy (DJ), Susan Fryer (Lynn), Emily DeGrande (Michael), and Samantha DeLorean (James); grandchildren, Sydney Nolin and James Nolin; step-grandchildren, Claudia Dafrico, Elizabeth Conroy, Bronwyn Conroy, Harper Wade-Fryer, Ruby Sue DeGrande, and Matilda DeGrande and many extended family members and friends who honor his legacy.
The family will receive guests between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:00PM on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024 at H.M. Patterson Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA. A funeral service to honor Mr. Michael Nolin Sr. will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, May 16th, 2024 at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA. A private committal service will be held for the family at Georgia National Cemetery.
