Phil was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 18, 1943. He was the son of Philip A. Ragozzino and Kathleen D. Ragozzino, and brother to Barbara McIntire. He was a devout Catholic whose relationship with Jesus Christ guided him in every aspect of his life. His faith served as a foundation for the love and values he instilled in his family, fostering an environment of support, kindness, and understanding.
He attended Bishop Moore Catholic High School and went on to graduate from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, preparing him for a lifelong career in education.
Phil spent over 40 years in education, serving as principal of Bridge City Elementary. As a teacher and principal, he dedicated his professional life to nurturing the minds of countless children and teachers, inspiring them to strive for excellence.
Phil and his beloved wife Claire resided in Algiers, Louisiana for over 30 years, where they built a life rooted in faith, family, and community.
Outside of his professional life, Phil was a man of many passions. He loved tinkering and fixing things and was known to be able to fix anything but a broken heart. He loved roses and worked hard to grow them in his yard. He was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, never missing a game and cheering them on with unwavering loyalty. Most of all, Phil cherished time with his family. Whether gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories, or enjoying quiet moments together, his greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he loved.
Phil was the cherished husband of Claire, with whom he shared 57 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of laughter, warmth, and enduring love. He was a proud father to Philip (Karen), Benjamin, and Angeline (Brian), and a joyful grandfather to Kyleigh, Gabriel, Adalyn and Ethan. Each of them carries forward his legacy of love, faith, and compassion.
He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and gentle spirit. Phil had a gift for making others feel seen and valued, and his presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew him.
Phil is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and former students who will carry his memory in their hearts.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Acworth, GA.
Though he has left this world, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all of us who so loved him… Phil, Daddy, Pops, and Paw Paw.
Rest in peace.
