Robert H. Hartley, Jr., age 69, of Marietta, Georgia, entered heaven where incurable, progressive diseases do not exist on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born in 1954 and grew up in Waycross, Georgia. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He retired in 2017 from LL Global (LOMA), a financial services trade association.
Bob was a kind and caring person, and his quick wit and dry sense of humor drew people to him. His favorite times were those spent with family—anything from whitewater rafting trips to family game night.
He was an avid sports fan and followed the Atlanta Braves, UGA football and the Atlanta Falcons. In addition to watching or attending games, he closely followed the player selection process — from baseball scouting reports to the NFL draft. He enjoyed travel, maintaining his lawn, and masterfully decorating the family Christmas tree.
He loved working with children and taught children’s classes on Sunday mornings at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church for over 25 years. He tried to make sure each child had a good time every single Sunday they attended so they would come back again and again.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Hartley, Sr., and Caro Chambless Hartley. He is survived by his spouse, Iris Fowler Hartley, his sons, James Daniel Hartley (Ashley) and Thomas Robert Hartley (Kelsey), his grandson, James Wesley Hartley, his siblings, William Thomas Hartley and Laura Hartley Dunn (Joe), his nephew, Joshua Robert Dunn, and his niece, Mary Elizabeth Dunn.
Visitation will be held at HM Patterson & Son—Canton Hill Chapel from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, April 1. A memorial service will be held in the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church chapel at 11 am on Tuesday, April 2.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation in Bob’s name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
