Born on March 6, 1932, in Rhinebeck, New York, Ruth was the beloved daughter of the late Morris Colton and Anna Sheeger Colton. She graduated from Rhinebeck Central School and she spent much of her career in office administration for IBM and Fulton County State Court, where her attention to detail, reliability, and professionalism earned the respect of her colleagues and the appreciation of those she served.
Over the years, Ruth built a life rooted in hard work, kindness, and dedication to family and community.
In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed playing bingo, dancing, swimming, playing cards and going on cruises. Ruth’s gentle spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering care for others will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her sister, Sally, brothers - Shermand and Harry; many nieces and nephews along with great neices and nephews. In addition to her partents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, brother Stanley, nephew Mark.
Private committal services will be held.
