Tony B. Hanson

Anthony Burnell "Tony" Hanson, age 64, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Born on February 16, 1961, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, Tony spent his early childhood in Verona, North Dakota, before moving to Marietta at the age of 12. He graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1979.

Shortly after graduation, Tony began working as a ward clerk in the ICU at Smyrna Hospital. Later that year, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for four years in the Military Post Office at Moody Air Force Base.

Following his military service, Tony dedicated 34 years to the United States Postal Service before retiring. In retirement, he continued to share his passion for bowling by working part-time at a local bowling pro shop.

In 1992, Tony married the love of his life, Louise Lee Garcia. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories over their 27 years of marriage.

Tony is survived by his beloved children, Tori Hanson and Anton Hanson; his mother, Vivian Hanson; his brother, Scott (Wendy) Hanson; his sister, Tracey Nizzari (David); his aunt, Audrey Morelock; his uncle, Jimmy Bowles; and his brother-in-law, Patrick Garcia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Garcia, and his father, Dale Hanson.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill, located at 1157 Old Canton Road NE, Marietta, GA 30068.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Canton Hill Chapel, with Howard Hewgley officiating.

Tony will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

Tony will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, dedication, and quiet strength will be remembered always.
