

Tony Iping Tseng, award-winning Professor and Program Director at the Savannah College of Art and Design (“SCAD”), suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on campus in Atlanta on Friday, January 23, 2015. The cause of death was a brain aneurysm. He was 40.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Chaofeng Tseng. He is survived by his wife, Jihfen Lucia Tseng, son Bryan, mother Yenmei Tseng, sister Cynthia Tseng, brother Ishan Tseng and mother-in-law Ching Yuan Lim.
Tony was born on September 26, 1974 in Taipei, Taiwan, moving to New York in 1996. He graduated with honors from the New York Institute of Technology (Bachelor of Fine Arts), and received his Master of Professional Studies degree from New York University in 2006, graduating with a 4.0 average.
Tony and Lucia married in 2005, and in 2007 moved to Atlanta where he associated with SCAD. Since that time he has been Professor and Program Director, Interactive Design & Game Development. Competing against 400 international colleges and universities, his team has won the annual E3 College Game Competition two years consecutively - 2013 & 2014 - an unprecedented feat. He also concurrently was Co-Director of Augmented Reality Research at Georgia Tech since 2010 as well as Studio Director for Nohero Interactive Game Design & Development since 2010. He has authored numerous papers, and has been a presenter and instructor at the most prestigious industry events around the world.
Tony’s expertise in applications and digital games led him to develop games and applications for some of the most recognized companies in the industry, including Mattel, NVIDIA, Sony Entertainment and even the State of Georgia, among others. He was project leader for "ARhrrrr", voted as the top 3 favorite augmented reality games of all time in 2009. He developed a US Department of Health & Human Services grant-winning health-related demo in 2013. His work is displayed as a permanent exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, New York.
Tony’s friends and colleagues knew him as unassuming, humble, gracious and unflappable. He always kept his focus on the “big picture” and things that mattered, and his poise under pressure was an inspiration to both his colleagues and students. He had a remarkable sense of humor, and truly valued his friendships, inspiring fierce loyalty to him.
Final services for Tony will take place at the H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, 1157 Old Canton Road NE, Marietta, Georgia, on Friday, January 30, 2015. Visitation and viewing will be from 9-11AM, followed by a service at 11AM.
