Vela Merle Powell Price

Mrs. Vela Merle Powell Price, age 82 of Marietta, passed away January 21, 2011. Mrs. Price was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was a graduate of University of Georgia with a degree in Home Economics and also a major in Education. She taught at Powers Ferry Elementary and retired from Cobb County School System. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her parents Leaston E. and Katie Powell and brother Curtis Lanier Powell. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Mr. Martin C. Price, son Chris Price and wife Becky of Woodstock, daughters Dawn Crowe and husband Robert of Marietta, Tanya Akins and husband Jim of Dallas, GA; sisters Erin Clemmons of Bonifay, FL and Kathlyn Bell of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law Violet Powell; grandchildren Dan and Joy Roark, Leaston and Cecil Hill, Brooke Akins, Anna and Ray Carver, Kiera Crowe, Katie and Ross Malcom, Angie and Bill Kirkpatrick, and Heather and Oli Mosier, and great-grandchildren Leilani Hill, Price Roark, Finley Malcom, Autumn, Amber and Bruce Kirkpatrick, Rylea, Bren and RJ Mosier, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park with Dr. Ken Ellison officiating.
