Virginia Smith Groover of Marietta passed peacefully at home on Saturday, April 10, 2021. She is survived by her son, Robert J. Groover Junior, grandchildren, Christin, David, Jonathon, and siblings, Hugh, Larry, A. Michael, Lonnie Smith and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Groover Senior and her beloved daughter, Carol Szell, her parents, James H. and Elayne Smith, and four brothers, Loyd, Bobby, Charles and Thomas Smith. She was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church.
Virginia worked as a civil service employee at Dobbins Air Force Base and was a Realtor since 1980 with Northside Realty and Prime Properties. She was recognized many times for her achievements in real estate sales.
Virginia really enjoyed playing and listening to music, regional trips throughout the South and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would take yearly trips to her beloved Smokey Mountains National Park, Cades Cove, and Gatlinburg.
Growing up she played piano in the church. She was an old time style piano player that could really "bang on the keys". She was a devote Christian and wished the best for everyone she ever met. She was a kind, caring and generous person and without fail, would put everyone else before herself.
Friends may visit with Virginia's family and celebrate her life at H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Directors, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA 30068 from 5 pm until 8 pm, Friday, April 16th. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, April 17th in the Arbor at Marietta Campground on Roswell Road. Following the services in the Arbor she will then be buried next to her daughter and husband in Marietta Campground Cemetery.
