It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of William Francis Hedgepath, age 72, of Marietta, Georgia, who peacefully passed away on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his wife, Cindy and two daughters.
Born to Margaret Rose Hedgepath and Ernest Francis Hedgepath, William was raised in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Lower Richland High School and went on to earn both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He dedicated over 47 years of his life to Weatherly Inc., where he worked with passion and integrity before retiring in December 2024.
He treasured his beloved wife, Cindy, of 43 years. Their marriage was full of love, laughter and making memories of a lifetime. He was a loving father and grandfather. His daughters, Amy (Greg) Sutton and Lisa (Michael) Silvestrini were truly blessed to call him their Dad. He was kind, gentle and endlessly patient, always teaching them the value of love and family. His most precious joy was time spent with his grandchildren - Kate and Emily Sutton and Hunter and Parker Silvestrini.
William’s love of history was only rivaled by his passion for South Carolina Football, often seen enjoying Saturdays cheering for the Gamecocks with his family and adored dog, Bogart. Summers were always spent relaxing with family on the South Carolina beach.
William’s life was full of kindness, and he was devoted to those he loved. He will be forever remembered as our “Southern Gentleman”, for his generous spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love.
William is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Hedgepath.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; daughters, Amy (Greg) Sutton and Lisa (Michael) Silvestrini; grandchildren, Kate Sutton, Emily Sutton, Hunter Silvestrini, and Parker Silvestrini; brother, Charles (Miriam) Hedgepath and sisters, Nancy Hedgepath and Susan (Preston) Hedgepath-Amy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in William’s name to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation. To donate, please visit https://ocularmelanoma.org/donate.
