Fred Ray "Papaw" Flynn

He was born March 23, 1945 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Fred Douglas Flynn and Nellie Beulah Vess Flynn. Mr. Flynn was known as a strong, loving man. He never met a stranger and he loved everyone. He also loved the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Flynn; his daughter, Susan Denise Flynn; brothers, Lloyd and Douglas Flynn; sister, Edith Flynn; two infant siblings; and his faithful companion, Muffy.

Surviving Mr. Flynn are his companion, Irene Hollars of the home; two sons, Gary Flynn and wife, Ann and Darrell Flynn and wife, Tammy all of Morganton, NC; one step-son, Dennis Hollars of West Jefferson, NC; one step-daughter, Vicky Dale and husband, Tim of Morganton, NC; five brothers, Troy Flynn and wife, Doris of Marion, NC, David Flynn and wife, Fuscia of Marion, NC, Grover Flynn and wife, Angie of Fort Mill, SC, Harold Flynn and wife, Willie of Marion, NC and Jessie Flynn of Union Mills, NC; two sisters, Agnes Whilte and husband, Jimmie of Rock Hill, SC and Linda Rowe of Marion, NC; seven grandchildren, Anthony Flynn, Rebecca Flynn, Ciara Flynn, Stacie Flynn, Passion Grimes, Brooke Hollars and Timberly Dale; six great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Charlie Helton of Morganton, NC.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC with Rev. Dennis Carswell officiating. Burial will follow at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
