James B Rutherford

James B. Rutherford, 83, of Nebo, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 29, 2014 at St. John's AME Church in Nebo. Interment will immediately follow at St. John's Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the Church Service. Mr Rutherford retired after several years of service at Coca Cola Distributors as a truck driver.

Heritage and Legacy

JB will be greeted by his loving parents, Gilbert Rutherford and Lottie O'Neil Rutherford and baby girl Rutherford, all from Nebo, NC. Also preceding him in death are 2 sisters, Annie Elizabeth Francis and Ethel Avery; 5 brothers, Edward Rutherford, Louis "Fats" Rutherford, Charles Rutherford, Robert Rutherford and Joseph "Dan" Rutherford.

He leaves behind his rocking chair friend and love of his life, Lynell H. Rutherford of the home.

He is also leaving behind 3 brothers, Sidney "Tim" Rutherford, Arell Rutherford and wife Peggy, both of Nebo, NC, and Harold "Melton" Rutherford of Columbus, Ohio.

The children who will carry on his name and memory are; Carolyn A Tate of Charlotte, NC, James "Bo" Rutherford and wife Tesona of Asheville, NC, Donald Rutherford of Nebo, NC, Sandra Rasheed and life partner Jeff Bryant of Nebo, NC, Gregory Rutherford of Nebo, NC, Stephen Rutherford of Nebo, NC, Leslie Rutherford and life partner Todd Crisp of Glen Alpine, NC and Kevin Rutherford and wife Connie of Laurel, MD; 30 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; aunt, Virginia Wallace of Nebo, NC; in laws, Velma Morris of Rutherfordton, NC, LeRoy "Peabody" Hamilton of Nebo, NC, Ralph "June" Hamilton of Nebo, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
