Margaret Montgomery Honeycutt House

Margaret Montgomery Honeycutt House, age 84, was born June 24, 1927 in Columbia, SC. She died Saturday, May 5, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Renn G. Honeycutt and Mell Montgomery Honeycutt. She was the wife of the late Ernest Jones House, Jr.

Mrs. House was a graduate of UNC-Greensboro and taught in the McDowell County Schools until 1987. She served as an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Marion, and also served as president of the Women of the Church. She led reactivation of the Friends of the McDowell County Public Library and served as the President of the Friends of the Library and was on their Executive Board until 2006.

Surviving Mrs. House are three daughters, Kay House of Winston Salem, NC, Elizabeth House of Marion, NC and Margaret “Peggy” Remington and husband, Ted and their children, Theo Remington and Sasha Remington all of Marion, NC. Also surviving are her brother, Renn G. Honeycutt, Jr. and wife, Ann of Graham, NC; seven nieces and nephews, Margaret Honeycutt Mago and husband, Blake F. Mago, Judith Honeycutt Gibson and husband, Robert Gibson, Ellen Honeycutt, Jane Honeycutt Digh, William Anthony Honeycutt and wife, Carolyn Jacobs Honeycutt, Therese Honeycutt and fiance’, Scott Plaster and Patricia Honeycutt and fiance’, Bil Hayes; and eighteen great-nieces and great-nephews, Isaac Groves, Rob Gibson, Dan Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Carl Kunz, Heather Gold, David Digh, Jenna Digh, Blake Honeycutt, Brice Honeycutt, Emilia Augello, Ryann McIntosh, Amanda Jacobs, Jessica Barba, Ashley Jacobs, Samantha Jacobs, Elise Honeycutt and Nick Fogg .

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Marion with Rev. Jeff Coffey officiating.
