Myrtle Burnette

She was born October 3, 1920 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Charles Simeon Greene and Minnie McKinney Greene. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Burnette and ten siblings. Mrs. Burnette was a member of Fort Mountain Baptist Church in Bakersville, NC. She loved gardening, sewing and taking care of her home.

Surviving are her son, Michael Burnette and wife, Marilyn; her beloved grandson, Brandon Burnette and wife, Amy; her beloved great-grandson, Clayton Michael Burnette; two sisters-in-law, Helen Greene and Sadie Greene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Sunrise Rehabilitation Center and to Barbara Andrews at New Horizon Home Care for all the love, support and special care given to Mrs. Burnette and her family.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Mitchell and Rev. Alan McKinney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
