Ruth Mae (Moore) Swepson

Mrs. Swepson was born October 24, 1929 in McDowell County, NC to the late Guy Moore and Janie Williams Moore. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, and she worked in the cafeteria of McDowell Hospital for many years until her retirement.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Swepson, Jr. and five sisters.

Left behind to cherish Mrs. Swepson’s memory are four children, Belinda Swepson Young, Marvin Swepson, III (Renita), Rada Lynette Washington and Sandra Smith (Perry); one sister, Joyce Ann Petiller; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. A funeral service to celebrate Mrs. Swepson’s life will follow at 12:00 PM with Dr. Michael S. Smith officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
