

Born July 1, 1920, in Boston, Massachusetts, Sylvia grew up in the Boston area and worked as administrative secretary at the Boston Museum of Science from 1946 to 1959. In 1959 she moved to Anna Maria, Florida where she worked at the National Bank of Sarasota from 1959 to 1963, and was executive secretary to the director of the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton from 1963 to 1981. She married George R. Snyder in 1974.
In Anna Maria, Sylvia was active in Roser Memorial Community Church and the Anna Maria Island Historical Society. She moved with family to Hickory in 2006 where she was active in First United Methodist Church. She lived at Springs of Catawba for many years. She loved reading, listening to classical music, and… cats. She was a giving person and had a good sense of humor. She spent her summers outside of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire on Lake Wentworth. In 2006 she moved to North Carolina with family.
Sylvia was preceded by the death of her husband George R. Snyder in 1995 and is survived by three nieces (Jane Goldthwait of Celo NC, Sue Carlson of Blue River, CO, and Betsy Atkinson of Black Mountain, NC) and one nephew (Thomas Goldthwait of Eagle, CO) and seven grand-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on December 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Springs of Catawba, 2010
