Virginia Ray Arney, age 84, of Marion, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at McDowell Hospital in Marion, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Arney was born on February 26, 1932, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to the late Cecil D. Ray and Daisy Bell Bowman. She was a member of Landmark Independent Baptist Church in Marion and she was retired from 27 years of working at Baxter Healthcare as an injection site operator.
Mrs. Arney loved the Lord, and loved her church family. She was a compassionate lady who enjoyed comforting the sick and visiting with friends. One of her passions, was baking birthday cakes for family and friends. Her favorite cake to bake and enjoy was a Chess cake. Mrs. Arney also loved to travel to see family and friends and really enjoyed going places. Most of all, she loved her family deeply and they will always remember her as a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, George Samuel Arney, and a sister, Edna Hollifield.
Surviving Mrs. Arney are her sons, George Nicholas “Nick” Arney of the home, and Kenneth D. Ramos, of Rutherfordton, NC; daughters, Myra (Jeff) Rumfelt, Sharon (Eddie) Wiseman , both of Marion, and Linda Mosely of Johnson City, TN.; grandchildren, Cody (Lindsey) Wiseman, Dustin Wiseman, Kimberly Rose Ramos, Samuel D. Ramos, Michael Ingao, Teela Rumfelt, and Levi Rumfelt; 9 great-grandchildren; and her beloved Chihuahua “Babe”.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 12 PM at The McCall Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, with Pastors Billy Forbes and Chris Clayton officiating and the Lambert Family will be providing the music. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park in Marion.
