

Berneice B. Denney, 94 of Ossian and formerly of rural Allen County, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She had worked for many years and retired from Lincoln National Life in Fort Wayne. She had attended and also served as the secretary of the Colony Heights Church of Christ for several years. She was a former member of the Markle Church of Christ. She had attended Lafayette Central School and later attended Lincoln Bible College.
Berneice was born on September 29, 1918 in Eureka, IL, a daughter of George H. and Freida (Kuntz) Smith. She was united in marriage to Othel M. Denney on December 5, 1936. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1998.
Survivors include – Five sons: Merlin O. (Judy) Denney, Robert E. (Linda) Denney and Richard A. (Joyce) Denney all of Fort Wayne, Roland R. (Maryalice) Denney of Zanesville and Donald R. (Bonnie) Denney of New Haven; Two sisters: Eileen Reddin of Shalimar, FL and Georgina Roth of Bluffton; a half-brother: Walter C. Denney of Fort Wayne and a half-sister: Mildred Bear of Warren. 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Earl Smith and Ordy Smith; 2 step brothers: Marvin Denney and Clifford Denney and her parents and her step father: Roscoe Denney.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2013 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle, IN.
Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ following the visitation with Minister Darryl Denney officiating.
Interment will take place in the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville.
