Billy Marcus Boyd, 80, of Houston, passed away peacefully September 5, 2013. A visitation was planned before the service on Monday, September 9, at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m., at Adams Funeral Home, 129 Coleman Street, Marlin, Texas. The service was conducted in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. and officiated by Brother Doug Howell of First United Methodist Church, Marlin. Billy was born on October 11, 1932 to William and Artie Mae (Wolfe) Boyd. He grew up in Hamburg, Arkansas and graduated high school there. He served in the US Air Force and later worked for Georgia-Pacific in Houston, eventually becoming a supervisor. He married Imogene Michalak Cleary on June 17, 1991 in Arkansas and they celebrated twenty-two years together as man and wife. They had known each other many years before their marriage. Over the years, they enjoyed traveling, spending time at Galveston, family gatherings, and friends. Billy was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars having served as commander of the VFW in Waller, Texas. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Irma Garrett, Emma Lou Croswell, Mae McGough, and Ellen Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Imogene; sisters, Mary Ruth Carman of Houston, Evelyn Dunton of Idaho; and brother, Eugene of DeRidder, Louisiana; sisters-in-law Virginia Gherbaz of Houston, Christine Parsons of Marlin, Mary Roberts and husband John of Florida; brother-in-laws Henry Michalak of Elkhart, and J.W. Michalak and wife, Barbara of Streetman; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers were David Michalak, Joel Parsons, Greg McInnis, Robert Nolton, J.W. Michalak, and Henry Michalak. Honorary pallbearers were his friends of the VFW- Waller chapter, and old friends/co-workers of Georgia-Pacific.
