Connie Salsiccia

1956 – 2014

Connie Salsiccia, 57, of Marlin, passed away after a long and brave battle with a malignant brain tumor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the committal service to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Father Celso Yu will officiate the Mass with Father Ron Feather to assist.

Connie was born in Waco, Texas to Lillie (Herzog) and Afton Tull. She grew up in Chilton in a large and loving family of five brothers and three sisters. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family. Connie always made holiday gatherings special whether it was frying a huge batch of chicken for Easter dinner, making her famous sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving, or treat bags for the kids on Christmas Eve. She told everyone she was so happy to have a large family and would not change a thing about her childhood.

She graduated from Chilton High School in May 1975 and upon graduation, Connie married the love of her life, Samuel L. Salsiccia. Together they had one daughter, Shelley. Connie was a devoted and loving mother; enthusiastically supporting Shelley in all she endeavored. Connie was thrilled when she gained a son-in-law, David, in 2005 and was extremely proud to be his sponsor when he was confirmed into the Catholic Church. In 2011, Connie and Sam were blessed with a grandson, Samuel Cooper, who inherited her looks and beautiful smile! He is “Honey’s” pride and joy.

Connie was loved by many and known as a person who would help anyone. You could often find her at church decorating for children activities, cooking for the priest, or donating her time and talents at the annual St. Joseph’s Fall Festival. Connie and Sam owned Neighborhood Grocery and Market in Marlin for many years. Connie was generous and never turned away a person in need; often giving customers groceries free of charge. All the neighborhood kids who came into the store never left without a piece of candy or a bag of chips. After retirement from Neighborhood Grocery, Connie worked at her hometown bank in Chilton then later for Tri-County Special Utility District in Marlin.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, and in-laws, Carlo and Lula Salsiccia. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Sam; daughter Shelley Smith and husband David, grandson Samuel Cooper; brothers Kenneth Tull and wife Martha, Sammy Tull and wife Lucy, Michael Tull and wife Kay, Danny Tull, Rickey Tull and wife Tammy; sisters Bonnie Jones, Marilyn Tull and fiancé Garland Neumann, Rita Presley and husband Mickey; brother-in-law Don Salsiccia and wife Margaret; sister-in-law Josephine Neumann and husband Billy; aunts Mildred Airhart, Zena Greaser, Betty Jean Bethke; uncle Paul Tull and wife Lanette; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special family friends Kathy Haug, Lisa Stinson and Donna Ann (Adams) Kingrey whom she loved dearly.

God has called a special servant home. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed but we rejoice in His words knowing the Lord said unto her, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:23.”
