Dawn Little

Dawn was more than a mother—she was the heart of our family, a fiercely devoted loved one, and a friend who could light up any room she walked into. She had a wild, beautiful spirit, a contagious laugh, and was always unapologetically herself. Whether she was sharing her wisdom, telling a story, or simply being her vibrant fun self, people were naturally drawn to her. To know her was to love her—and to probably laugh a little louder.

Born on February 26, 1967, in Houston, Texas, Dawn spent much of her younger years in Marlin and Perry, Texas. She lived a life rooted in strength, resilience, and deep love for her family. She dedicated herself to her daughters and took pride in her work as both a police officer and dispatcher—serving others with courage and heart. Outside of work, she found peace and joy in the outdoors. Whether she was fishing, birdwatching, dancing, or simply soaking up the sunshine, she embraced life fully and on her own terms. Music, laughter, and good company were never far from her, but her greatest joy—always—was her family.

She is survived by her children: Kaitlyn Huseby and spouse Marcus Bustos; Dawson Collins and spouse Eli Collins; and Bailey Moses and fiancée Alexis Serrano Laboy. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Gracelynn, Koda, Everleigh, Anakin, and Ellie, who brought endless light into her life. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Dragoo; her sister, Jennifer Garilmo; and her beloved partner, Michael Hardin, who will forever carry her love in his heart and took such wonderful care of her during this past season of her life.

She is preceded in death by her father, Michael Huseby, and her grandparents, the Husebys and Scheefs, whom she loved dearly.

Dawn will be remembered for her strength, her compassion, her fierce loyalty, and the way she loved—boldly, loudly, and without limits. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in every laugh, every memory, and every life she touched. Her love doesn’t end here—it carries on in all of us.
